Support for Schools
As part of our Tiered Approach to supporting schools, Specialist Teachers will be able to provide advice for early intervention for pupils on SEND Support and for those with EHC plans.

Each session provides half an hour, of support for an individual school or setting and if necessary a follow-up visit will be arranged to provide further advice and support for meeting the needs of individual pupils.
Prior to an advice session, we will ask you to complete a proforma outlining your needs which allows us to best prepare for the meeting. Feel free to discuss an individual pupil’s needs (anonymously) or a range of school-based approaches which may help across a number of learners.
Advice Sessions are free to book.
In order to allow fair access please do only book one session at a time although you are, of course, more than welcome to attend again if needed.

Please note advice sessions are primarily for Aylesbury Area Schools. Please contact your local area hub team (Chiltern and South Bucks or Wycombe) for SEND support requests in other areas.

Support for Parents
National Autistic Society EarlyBird Plus
EarlyBird Plus is an eight-week programme designed for the families and settings of primary school-aged children with a diagnosis of Autism. It is also available for those with needs identified as Autism, where a diagnostic assessment has not yet been undertaken.
Sessions are designed for settings to attend alongside parents. They are based on a group learning approach whereby parents, professionals and trainers share experiences and strategies. The course aims to:
- Equip parents and carers to develop a greater understanding of their child’s needs.
- Develop a consistent approach across settings (home and school).
- Empower parents and professionals to understand more about autism and the needs of the autistic children they support.
Sessions run in Aylesbury on Monday Mornings. The course includes topics such as:
- Understanding and Supporting Sensory Differences
- Understanding and Supporting Communication Differences
- Understanding and Interpreting Behaviour
There are also two individual family sessions for parents to discuss any particular issues with the course leaders. This enables approaches to be personalised for their child.
Cohorts will run termly starting in September, January and April. Cohort sizes are limited, families not allocated to a particular cohort will be offered future dates and we shall, therefore, hold personal data for this purpose.
Families are not charged for attending the course although we will ask for a voluntary contribution towards refreshments.

Countywide Team
The iSEND Countywide Team consists of Specialist Teachers from the Sensory and Physical Teams (Vision Impairment, Hearing Support, Multi sensory Impairment, Physical Disabilities) and the ICT Facilitator.
