Support for children with a Physical disability
- The team of Specialist Teachers work with Children and Young People with or without an Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), aged pre-school -25 years. Our support is available to all children and young people on roll in mainstream schools (maintained and academies) and some non-maintained nurseries.
Who the service provides for
- The team support children, young people and their families
- Support is provided for children who have a physical disability
How the service is accessed
- Referral is through the Integrated SEND Team, SENCO, Setting or other professionals
Support may include
- Assessment of educational needs
- Classroom observation to inform inclusive practice
- Monitoring and recording progress
- Advice on classroom management strategies
- Advice on managing the learning environment
- Support to ensure access to the Curriculum
- Working with child/young person as appropriate
- Advice and support at school transfer
- Training for school staff, other professionals and parents
- Advice on Local Authority policy and current legislation
- Advice on educational implications of the area of need
- Advice on levels and type of adult support required
- Input into the SEN support plans
- Contribution to Annual Review, review meetings and multi-professional meetings
- Liaison with other professional services and agencies
- Liaison with parents/carers
- Support with home-school liaison
- Advice on appropriate equipment, materials and resources to support access and inclusion
- Written reports as appropriate
- Telephone and email support
- Site Access visits to schools
