Assessment Training 20/21

Assessment Training 20/21

Updated Training for 2020/21

Following the government announcement cancelling all national curriculum assessments scheduled to run between April and July 2021 the CPD programme has been updated to reflect these changes.

We know that schools will continue to use assessment to inform teaching, give information to parents on their child’s attainment in their statutory annual report and support transition of KS1 pupils to KS2 and KS2 pupils to secondary schools. In order to support schools in making assessments, Buckinghamshire LA are offering the following assessment events so that teachers can feel confident in identifying gaps in learning and that the judgements they are making are in line with other schools in the Local Authority. If attending, please bring relevant evidence for pupils at each standard which can be shared with colleagues.

In order to manage sessions successfully, participants will be expected to have saved pupils’ written evidence in a format that may be shared during online meetings. (Instructions will be provided two weeks in advance of events).  Break out rooms will be used to enable teachers to moderate work in small groups. Each participant will be allocated individually into breakout rooms, so it is important that each teacher who wishes to attend the event, is booked on to the course as a delegate. In addition, delegates will all be expected to access the meeting individually from an appropriately enabled device, and not to share devices with a colleague. Delegates attending from the same school, will need a quiet space to work, distanced from other delegates in order to avoid audio feedback.

Places at virtual moderation events are limited to 36 to allow for the deployment of LA moderators who will support professional discussions. If you are unable to take up your place, please inform sis@buckinghamshire.gov.uk as soon as possible.  In order to allow delegates to prepare adequately for meetings all moderation events have strict closing dates for booking. Please familiarise yourself with closing dates if you would like to book any of the advertised courses.
