2019 marked the introduction of the new OfSTED framework. For leaders, this marked an emphasis upon:

  • Leadership values, vision and ethos and how well this is embedded and implemented across the organisation
  • How staff are developed professionally, including being at the forefront of current thinking and pedagogical debate
  • How leaders are tackling well-being and workload in a meaningful manner
  • How Governors are integral and impactful, beyond surface convention and process
  • A continued emphasis on safeguarding considering how leaders:
    • identify issues
    • help and take timely action
    • manage their statutory duties to prevent children and young people being placed at risk
  • How curriculum is used to make meaningful difference to the lives of children and young people including:
    • the intent
    • the implementation
    • the impact
  • How leaders ensure children and young people develop:
    • positive behaviours and attitudes – including attendance, behaviour and attitudes to learning
    • personally – including understanding of Fundamental British Values, character, citizenship, careers and healthy attitudes to life
