New Headteacher support
Buckinghamshire Council and the Buckinghamshire Academy for School Leadership (BASL) work together to provide a programme of support for new headteachers and those new to Buckinghamshire.
The programme includes:
- Three events
- Free BASL membership
- The offer of mentoring by an experienced Buckinghamshire Headteacher funded through BASL
Events
- Welcome Tea - an informal event with a chance to meet the senior leaders from Education and school improvement t Buckinghamshire Council and fellow new headteachers.
- Leadership Conference - providing an opportunity to reflect on leadership and what it means to lead; but also to bring new heads together to create a network that can provide mutual support going forward. With key note speakers and presentations from some of the last year’s headteachers about their first year.
- Induction Day - providing the opportunity to meet members of the Buckinghamshire Council teams who will be working closely with your school including Social Care, Safeguarding, School Finance and Admissions.
BASL membership
As a new headteacher or a headteacher new to Buckinghamshire your school is offered free BASL membership for the academic year.
BASL membership offers you discounted:
- rate for the BASL Annual Conference for School Leaders
- access to a programme of up to 3 half‐day leadership seminars this academic year
Mentoring
Buckinghamshire Council funding enables BASL to offer up to 12 hours face to face mentoring to new headteachers over their first three terms in post.
If you choose to accept this offer, you will be paired with an experienced headteacher who has completed mentor training.
