Meet the SFS Team
Senior FMS ICT Analyst
I have worked for Bucks County Council in various roles since 1997 following twenty years working in banking. With a love of spreadsheets and figures I have been very fortunate to work in finance throughout my career. These roles have included working as a bursar/Finance Manager in primary, secondary and academy schools and also supporting schools as a finance officer within the Bucks Schools Finance Support Team. I was delighted to join the FMS team in 2011 having enjoyed many years support myself on the end of a telephone whilst working in schools. I appreciate how challenging the role of bursar can be in a busy school environment – no day is ever the same! I work with my colleagues across County to ensure schools receive the best possible support and guidance on their finance systems.
Financial Systems Support Officer
I started my school working life in September 2001 in a primary school in Aylesbury. I was first employed for three hours a day as a school administrator which is where I had my first taste of SIMS. It didn’t take long to realise how brilliant SIMS is and how much it enables the smooth running of the school office. It’s an amazing programme and very straight forward to use. Of course there were times when I needed help where the SIMS support team were always at the end of the phone helping me with my queries.
In 2016 I decided it was time to have a change of scenery and in the May I saw the SIMS team were advertising for Sims Support Officers. I decided to apply and couldn’t believe it when I was offered the job!! In the short time that I have been here I have realised how huge SIMS is and how beneficial to schools the programme is.
In April 2018 I transferred from SIMS support to Financial Systems support and now confidently support Schools on FMS, PFM and PS Financials.
FMS ICT Analyst
After eighteen years as a teacher and a member of the School Leadership Team in a Bucks school I sought a new career in the SIMS/FMS team. Back in school I had had specific responsibility for pupil assessment data and analysis and led the Mathematics curriculum area. I had also spent many years training teachers, teaching assistants and trainee teachers and presenting at conferences. These experiences and an interest in finance, budgets and databases helped me to secure the role of FMS ICT Analyst in June 2016. I know just how busy school offices are; I have also been that person in school ringing for support on many occasions and greatly appreciated when given accurate guidance on best practice. I therefore aspire to provide the best, most effective level of support and training to schools.
