School and social work partnerships to support Post Order (adopted and special guardianship) families
This session will introduce how the Post Order team can work alongside schools to help families whose children have an Adoption or Special Guardianship Order.
We will look at the work that the Post Order team does including assessments, life story work, protective behaviors work, parenting support, contact support, birth parents support, groups for young people and children, rolling training programme and social events, as well as how the Adoption Support Fund can provide therapeutic support for children and their families and the difference to pupil premium plus.
Outcomes:
- Gain an understanding of what the post order team does and its commissioned therapeutic partners
- Understand the process for a referral to post order and be able to signpost to this or do on a family’s behalf with consent
- Know how children may present during their therapy and be prepared for this in the school setting
- Consider the role of social workers and child and family workers in the team and how they can support schools
