Honest conversations: supporting vulnerable families to acknowledge and mitigate risk for children and young people

This course aims to support schools to have honest conversations with families, while exploring the importance of doing so.  It will also consider the benefits of working with families in order to reduce the impact of risk on children and young people.

Outcomes:

  • Identifying risk.
  • Planning for the difficult / honest conversation.
  • Naming the risk with the family and any expected outcome.
  • Recording the risk and the conversation.
  • Escalating the concern.
  • Follow up on conversations.
