Guidance on Autistic Spectrum Disorder within teaching

We support Children and Young People with Educational Health Care Plans identifying the primary need of Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

We can provide support as needed, which may include:

  • Classroom observation to inform inclusive practice
  • Monitoring and recording progress
  • Support with planning differentiation
  • 1:1/social groups
  • Advice on classroom management strategies
  • Advice on managing the learning environment
  • Support to ensure access to the Curriculum
  • Working with child/young person as appropriate
  • Advice and support at school transfer
  • Training for school staff, other professionals and parents
  • Advice on educational implications of the area of need
  • Input into the SEND plans
  • Contribution to Annual Review, review meetings and multi-professional meetings
  • Liaison with other professional services and agencies
  • Advice on specialist equipment and resources
  • Written assessment reports as appropriate
  • Telephone/email support
  • Support for parent/carer through links with the school
