This session is for professionals supporting children and young people who have experienced adversity in educational settings, specifically relating to care experienced children and young people.

Children and young people in care deserve to be understood and seen beyond their trauma; to have professionals around them who are equipped with the tools to support children on their journey from adversity, to prosperity.  

This training highlights a lived experience story of connecting with and seeing children and young people beyond their behaviours, beyond the trauma. The trainer, Mary-Anne, will explore her own journey of care in relation to her educational experiences, with a focus on environments that ‘made the difference’.

Outcomes

• A lived experience insight into ‘what makes the difference’, in education settings, for care experienced children and young people
• Recognition of trauma-related behaviours manifesting themselves in educational settings
• Understanding and value of the importance of connection and relational healing; environments that harm vs heal.
• A feeling of connectedness to the reality of the care experienced world, educational journey and the difference professionals can and do make.
